Human Wizarding MoFo.
August was the fifth of six children born to Rife and Claranna Matterhorn. Rife father, Etrigan, was a wizard who went on many adventures in his youth. On many of these campaigns he shared “accommodations” with a barbarian named Perris, and accidentally stormed her castle a little too quickly. Enter Rife 9 months later.
Problems. Perris was not prepared for motherhood. Perris was already betrothed to another barbarian upon her return from adventuring. It was a marriage that would unite 2 tribes into a moderate power and she was not prepared to let this child ruin her people, so she abandoned both the father and the son. Etrigan went into seclusion to raise his son.
22 years later, Rife had grown into a strong and fairly level-headed man. He married a local girl named Claranna, and they had 6 children, 5 boys and 1 girl. The first 4 boys ended up being strong laborers and craftsmen like their father (and grandmother), but the fifth, August, seemed to lean more toward his grandfather’s side. Speaking of Etrigan, he was now the town recluse who holed himself up in his farmhouse, and it was put on August to take care of him. Luckily for August this was fine, as he admired his grandfather and relished the stories of his early adventures, which most people thought were too far-fetched to be true. After his grandfather’s death, August decided to head out on his own to prove his worth to his family.
